Modern design style reflects a modern theme with clean lines, uncluttered spaces, neutral colours, and minimal decoration. Today, luxury modern and minimal modern styles are popular worldwide. Both display their uniqueness and contrast. Modern design differs from traditional ones because they don’t rely on heavy decorations and bold colours. Modern designs emphasise simplicity, practicality, and innovation. Architecture, interior design, and product design are now focusing on modernism. Indian people follow it because of foreign countries’ mimic designs. The modern theme is more about less ornamentation, clean lines, and honest use of materials.
Modern design evolved through the Industrial Revolution and due to technological advancements. It mostly focuses on functionality. The emergence of modernist architecture in the late 19th and early 20th century was due to the influence of the Bauhaus movement. The architects who contributed to it were Le Corbusier, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Walter Gropius. Eventually, it led to the development of modern furniture and interior design. New materials were made in this era, so the availability of materials also increased. Production and manufacturing sectors were also booming at the time. New construction technologies were emerging in the world to replace traditional ones. Because new techniques were less time-consuming and more time-saving.
Fundamental principles that define modernism are functionality, simplicity, clean lines and geometric forms, honest use of materials, open and functional spaces, natural light, neutral colour palette, and integration of form and function. Every element in interior or exterior design should serve a practical purpose. Functionality is the most important in design. Avoiding unnecessary decoration gives us a clean vision and avoids visual clutter in a space. Rather than intricate carvings, this style uses straight lines, simple geometry, and balanced proportions. In terms of materials, we use concrete, steel, wood, and glass to express their natural characteristics. We heard that open spaces like open layout of kitchen, sufficient clearance between space is important. Circulation around spaces makes movement easier and more satisfying. Another factor is natural light and ventilation. For this, we allow the use of large windows, glass panels, and thoughtful spatial planning. Here, we use colours like white, grey, black, beige, and natural material tones, with occasional accent colours.
Let understand what is contemporary style: It is style that in trending now we use. Contemporary style changes with time. It shows current trends.
